Double Pick 6 carryover of $121K on Sunday at Belmont Park
Sunday’s card at Belmont Park will be bolstered by a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $121,889 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second day in a row on Saturday’s 11-race card.
The $1 Pick 6 returned $734.88 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.
Saturday’s Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 6 with Paradise Valley [No. 5, $10.68], capturing a six-furlong claimer with Samuel Marin aboard for trainer Ilkay Kantarmaci. In Race 7, a 7 1/2-furlong maiden claimer for New York-breds, jockey Antonio Fresu navigated Chris’s Song [No. 6, $7.92] to victory for trainer Rick Dutrow, Jr.
Jorge Ruiz earned a victory in Race 8 by guiding the Michael Trombetta-trained Doubting Thomas [No. 8, $9.62] to victory in the $175,000 Bricks and Mortar at seven furlongs over the Widener turf course. In Race 9, a seven-furlong maiden special weight for state-breds, jockey Katie Davis and trainer Carlos Figueroa, Jr. visited the winner’s circle with Startowne Road [No. 8, $41.10].
In Race 10, the Grade 3, $200,000 Hill Prince, the Thomas Proctor-conditioned Third Coast [No. 9, $13.76] prevailed under Jose Lezcano in the 1 3/16-mile inner turf route.
With only Bourboncentric [No. 9] and Classic Commander [No. 12] covered in the Race 11 finale, a one-mile maiden claimer on the Widener turf featuring a dozen state-breds, the Amelia Green-trained Gilbane [No. 1, $6.52*] arrived in the final jumps under Manny Franco to narrowly defeat Bourboncentric and trigger the carryover.
Sunday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 4 at approximately 2:49 p.m. Eastern. First post on the nine-race card is 1:10 p.m. Eastern.
