Trainer Chad Brown holds a strong trio of Oversubscribed, Accent and Al Jafara in the first turf stakes of the year on The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA)-circuit in Friday’s Listed $150,000 Plenty of Grace, a one-mile inner turf test for older fillies and mares, at Aqueduct Racetrack.

The five-time Eclipse Award-winning Brown won five straight runnings of this race from 2016-21, scoring with Mrs McDougal [2016], Light in Paris [2017], Uni [2018], Fifty Five [2019] and Regal Glory [2021]. This year is the 10th edition of the Plenty of Grace, meaning Brown has won five of the nine runnings during the race’s history.

"I have a nice group of fillies entered in here, so we'll see," Brown said.

Klaravich Stables’ dual stakes-winner Oversubscribed [post 1, Manny Franco] was fourth in the 1 1/16-mile Listed Albert M. Stall Memorial when making her 5-year-old debut on Valentine’s Day at Fair Grounds Race Course. The British-bred Too Darn Hot bay won her lone start last year when taking the 1 1/16-mile Forever Together in November here. That was her second local stakes score, also capturing the one-mile Listed Wild Applause as a sophomore.

"She likes to pull, so if there is a little pace in front of her, it is good," Brown said. "She likes this course."

Oversubscribed, out of the Group 1-placed Cape Cross mare Zurigha, was a $481,041 purchase from Book 1 of the 2022 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Jeffrey Drown’s British-bred Accent [post 5, Jose Lezcano] is 3-for-3 thus far, all going the Plenty of Grace distance at Tampa Bay Downs and earning a career-best 85 Beyer Speed Figure for a last-out 1 3/4-length optional claiming score on March 11. The 4-year-old Pinatubo bay debuted last April and was victorious there, replicating the closing neck victory off the layoff this February ahead of her last effort.

"She's been a little slow to come around, with a few little setbacks here and there, but she seems to be in good form now," Brown said. "She has a nice turn of foot and it seems like a good distance for her at a mile."

Out of the winning Oasis Dream mare Dreamlike, Accent was a $329,693 purchase from Book 1 of the 2023 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. She is a half-sister to the Brown-trained dual Grade 1-winner Program Trading.

Madaket Stables, Michael Dubb and Richard Schermerhorn’s Al Jafara [post 4, Dylan Davis] was sixth last out in the 1 1/16-mile Grade 3 Endeavour on January 31 at Tampa. The 4-year-old Pinatubo chestnut was making just her second stateside start after winning her American and barn debut from last-of-12 going the same distance last April at Keeneland.

"That [Endeavour Stakes] was probably a bad placement by me. We've been struggling to find the race to bring her back," Brown said. "This is probably a little short in distance to be honest, but I need to get her back on track."

Al Jafara made her first two starts at Chantilly in France for trainer Hedi Ghabri before being purchased for $270,611 at the 2024 Arqana Saint-Cloud sale. She is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Predawn, a full-sister to Group 1-winner Qualify.

The 47-year-old Brown earned his 3,000th career training victory on April 10 as Zulu Kingdom wired the Grade 1 Maker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland.

Live Oak Plantation’s Grade 1-winner And One More Time [post 7, Javier Castellano] was fifth last out in the nine-furlong Grade 2 Hillsborough on March 7 at Tampa Bay Downs. Trained by dual Hall of Famer Mark Casse, the 4-year-old Omaha Beach dark bay set the pace and faded late in the event won by Destino d'Oro, the same rival who won And One More Time’s prior two starts.

And One More Time, as a juvenile, graduated second-out in a 5 1/2-furlong off-the-turf maiden at Saratoga Race Course ahead of winning the one-mile turf Grade 1 Natalma at odds of 16-1 that September at Woodbine Racetrack.

And One More Time breezed a half-mile in 49.95 seconds on Thursday over the Belmont Park dirt training track.

“She looks great,” said Shane Tripp, Casse’s New York-based assistant. “I hadn’t seen her in a couple of years, last time was back when we had her in Saratoga when she broke her maiden as a 2-year-old. She looks wonderful now. Her work was just a solo maintenance work.”

After the Natalma, And One More Time was off for one year until a successful return in September at Woodbine, exiting to run second in the 1 1/16-mile Listed Tropical Park Oaks, beaten a head in December at Gulfstream Park to start the streak of defeats to Destino d’Oro.

“I like her chances over here,” said Tripp. “I love this turf course here. When they open it up in the spring, it is as good as there is. This horse, she has filled out a lot. She has matured a lot. She trains real forwardly. She is really honest and a good doer. Everything you look for and want, she has on a daily basis.”

And One More Time, a $750,000 purchase at the 2023 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale, is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes-winner Honor D Lady out of the Blame mare Complicated.

West Point Thoroughbreds, Madaket Stables, LJSS Thoroughbreds and Michael Kisber’s Relaxx [post 3, Jaime Rodriguez] will look to settle into American racing when making her stateside and barn debut for trainer Miguel Clement.

The 4-year-old City Light bay made 12 starts in her native France including
a trio of Group 3 placings over soft footing to cap her time with trainers Carlos and Yann Lerner. Those on-the-board group efforts include thirds in the Prix Chloe in July and Prix Bertrand de Tarragon last out in September, both about nine furlongs at Chantilly, surrounding a second in the Prix de Lieurey going about one-mile in August at Deauville.

Relaxx, a $587,117 purchase at the 2025 Arqana Saint-Cloud Sale, is out of the stakes-winning Sunday Break mare Texalia and her second dam is Group 3-winner Texalina.

Rounding out the field is dual stakes-placed Storm Miami [post 6, Reylu Gutierrez, blinkers OFF] for conditioner Amelia Green and four-time winner Do Gooder [post 2, Ricardo Santana, Jr.] for trainer Jena Antonucci.

Just Music is entered for the main track-only.

The Plenty of Grace was originally scheduled to be run April 4, but the launch of the 2026 grass season on The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) circuit was moved to Thursday, April 16 due to the impact of heavy snowfall in January and February paired with continued cold overnight temperatures in March.

The Plenty of Grace is slated as Race 7 on Friday’s eight-race card. First post is 1:10 p.m. Eastern.
