Wednesdays added to Breakfast and Thoroughbred Farm Tour schedule
Saratoga Race Course today announced an updated schedule for its highly popular Breakfast and Thoroughbred Farm Tours, presented by New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. (NYTB), with the addition of weekly Wednesday tours beginning July 29 to coincide with the first Wednesday of live racing during the 2026 summer meet.
The new Wednesday tours will feature visits to Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga, a Saratoga Springs-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meaningful second careers for retired thoroughbreds while promoting mental health and emotional wellness through the horse-human connection.
With the addition of Wednesdays, the Saratoga Breakfast and Thoroughbred Farm Tours will now operate Thursdays through Saturdays before expanding to a Wednesday through Saturday schedule beginning Wednesday, July 29. Tours are not offered on Saturday, August 29 (DraftKings Travers Day).
The new weekly lineup features Old Friends at Cabin Creek every Thursday, Old Tavern Farm every Friday, Sugar Plum Farm on Saturdays, and Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga every Wednesday beginning July 29.
The experience begins with Breakfast at Saratoga, presented by CDTA, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. After enjoying a buffet breakfast set against the backdrop of morning training, fans will board a CDTA trolley at 9:15 a.m. for transportation to the featured farm. Following an expert-led guided tour, visitors will return to Saratoga for an afternoon of live racing. A portion of proceeds from every ticket benefits the NYTB Scholarship Fund.
Tickets may be reserved at NYRA.com/Tours.
Two of the four destinations, Old Friends at Cabin Creek and Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga, highlight the industry's commitment to aftercare. Old Tavern Farm is a showcase for New York's thriving breeding industry while Sugar Plum Farm offers a family-friendly experience that introduces fans of all ages to thoroughbred breeding.
"The Saratoga Breakfast and Thoroughbred Farm Tours continue to evolve as an opportunity for fans to experience every stage of a thoroughbred's life while enjoying a unique Saratoga tradition," said Najja Thompson, Executive Director of New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. "The addition of Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga expands our emphasis on aftercare and demonstrates the many meaningful ways retired thoroughbreds continue to enrich our communities long after their racing careers have ended."
Located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping retired thoroughbreds find purpose beyond the racetrack while creating opportunities for healing, connection, and growth for people throughout the community. Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga provides Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy in partnership with ECS Psychological Services, serving children, families, adults, veterans, and active-duty service members.
Another new addition for 2026 is Old Friends at Cabin Creek, an industry renowned aftercare facility that provides a lifetime sanctuary for retired racehorses. Nestled in the countryside of Greenfield Center, fans will have the opportunity to meet several of the farm’s accomplished residents, including 2018 New York-bred Horse of the Year Diversify and 2007 New York Horse of the Year Naughty New Yorker, while learning about the importance of aftercare and the industry’s commitment to equine welfare.
Old Tavern Farm, the program’s original tour host, offers a boutique breeding operation set on a hillside overlooking scenic Saratoga Lake. The farm is home to mares, yearlings, and weanlings, giving guests a comprehensive look at early-stage thoroughbred development.
Sugar Plum Farm provides an engaging and family-friendly atmosphere while showcasing its breeding operation just minutes from Saratoga Race Course. New for 2026, the farm has introduced miniature horses, goats, donkeys, and other animals, broadening its appeal for younger visitors. In addition, Sugar Plum has established a 501(c)(3) foundation aimed at providing educational programming for underprivileged children in grades K–5, further enhancing its community impact while maintaining its connection to racing and breeding for adult fans.
