Double Pick 6 carryover of $124K on Saturday at Belmont at the Big A

Christian Abdo Jun 13 2025

Saturday’s card at Belmont at the Big A will be bolstered by a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $124,619 after the multi-race wager went unsolved for the second consecutive day during Friday’s nine-race program.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $223.75 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

Friday's Pick 6 sequence kicked off in Race 4 with a win from Risk Threshold [No. 6, $9.50] in a six-furlong outer turf optional claimer with Junior Alvarado aboard for five-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Chad Brown. Alvarado doubled up as the Amira Chichakly-conditioned 43-1 longshot Widdershins [No. 3, $89.50] upset a one-mile inner turf maiden claimer for New York-breds, in Race 5.

The next race saw Manny Franco navigate It Takes Heart [No. 8, $7.10] to a commanding victory in a one-turn mile claimer for trainer Ilkay Kantarmaci, in Race 6. In Race 7, Kendrick Carmouche piloted Neuschwanstein [No. 2, $7.20] to victory in a six-furlong claimer for trainer Linda Rice.

In Race 8, a salty 6 1/2-furlong optional claimer, Baby Yoda [No. 6, $6.60*] made an impressive 7-year-old debut with Flavien Prat aboard for Hall of Famer Bill Mott to win in a final time of 1:13.86, breaking the nearly 28-year-old track record of 1:14.35 previously set by Coronado’s Quest.

With just Kissed by Karma covered heading into the 10-horse Race 9 finale, a one-mile inner turf state-bred maiden claimer, the Miguel Clement-trained Backcheck [No. 6, $10.20] overcame a slow start to graduate under Manny Franco, triggering the carryover.

Saturday’s Pick 6 will begin in Race 5 at approximately 3:06 p.m. Eastern. First post for the 10-race card that features the NYSSS Cupecoy’s Joy [Race 2] is 1:10 p.m.
